ALL OFFICIALS
NEW THIS YEAR: There is an online module that is a pre-requisite for ALL returning officials regardless of level. Links are listed below.
They take about 45 minutes to complete and they will need to be completed by the official by noon on the Friday before the clinic or their registration in the clinic will be cancelled, no exceptions. This online module has the test in it, so the officials will actually be doing the testing prior to attending the clinic.
Again, this is for all returning officials regardless of level or age.

NEW OFFICIALS
All new officials will need to take a different online module, this one is the into to officiating module (
https://page.spordle.com/ha/clinics/1f04af8b-3875-621a-9e6a-06ec3eeea2d1) Once they are done their in person, then they will do the online test portion through Spordle, if they feel confident enough they are welcome to tackle the online test before hand but are not required to.
For officials needing criminal records checks, this process takes about a week from start to finish. The Backcheck portion will return in 2-4 hours if all goes well but it takes 2-3 business days for those results to get to Hockey Alberta and get uploaded into the officials spordle account. If the official hasn't started this process at least 1 week prior to the clinic then they likely won't get it done in time. You must use the link from the Hockey Alberta website (
https://officials.hockeyalberta.ca/register/criminal-record-checks/ ),
no other forms will be accepted.
The online level 2 returning official clinic will be held November 11, 2025. This will be in lieu of a last chance clinic this year. Officials will need to have officiated the last 3 years consecutively with no time off in order to qualify for this clinic. They are still required to complete the online recert like everyone else, plus attend this online session. They will also need a background check before they can register. The difference is this will be a 3-hour evening session online versus a full day classroom session in person. The link to register for this course is
